Driven rod electrode with a copper bonded surface. Rods can be coupled end to end to reach deeper soil layers, which usually hold more moisture and give a lower resistance reading.

Where it fits
A copper bonded rod is driven straight into the ground instead of being set in a bored hole. Extra lengths can be coupled on to reach the deeper, damper soil. It is joined to the earthing conductor with a clamp at the top, often inside a small pit with a cover.
