Earthing on hills and in heavy rain
Much of the North East is hilly, with rocky ground and thin soil on slopes, and some of the heaviest rainfall in the country. Rocky ground has a high resistance, while heavy rain can wash out a badly made pit.
On hill sites, driven copper bonded rods that can be coupled to reach deeper, damper soil, or several pits bonded together, usually give a better reading than one short electrode. Good backfill compound and a proper pit cover keep the pit stable through the monsoon.
The region also has frequent thunderstorms. Towers, hospitals, schools, tea factories and buildings on high ground should have lightning protection with their own earth pits.

Questions from North East
Can earthing be done well on a hill site?
Yes. Use driven copper bonded rods coupled to reach deeper soil, or several pits bonded together, with backfill compound. Testing after installation confirms the reading.
Will heavy rain damage a chemical earth pit?
A properly made pit with backfill compound and a good cover stays stable in heavy rain. The compound holds moisture without washing out the way salt does in traditional pits.
