Chemical earthing electrodes
A conductive electrode surrounded by backfill compound keeps earth resistance low and stable for years, with almost none of the watering and maintenance that traditional pipe earthing needs. We manufacture electrodes in G.I, copper bonded and pure copper.
Copper bonded electrode
48, 58 and 76 mm dia. 2 m and 3 m length.
A steel core molecularly bonded with copper, giving copper’s conductivity and corrosion resistance at a lower cost than solid copper.
G.I chemical earthing electrode
48, 58, 76 and 100 mm dia. 2 m, 3 m and 6 m length.
Galvanised iron electrode for chemical earthing.
Pure copper chemical earthing electrode
39, 54 and 79 mm dia. 3 m length.
Solid copper throughout, giving the highest conductivity and the longest service life in aggressive, salty or waterlogged soil.
Copper bonded rod
13 to 25 mm dia. 1 m to 3 m length.
Driven rod electrode with a copper bonded surface.
G.I perforated pipe
25 to 100 mm dia. 2 m and 3 m length.
Perforations let the backfill compound make contact with the soil along the full length of the pipe, which lowers resistance and keeps it stable through dry months..
Backfill compound and earthing materials
Backfill compound is packed around the electrode to fill the gaps between metal and soil. It holds moisture, lowers resistance and protects the electrode, which matters most in dry, sandy or rocky ground.

BFC Standard

Copper earthing materials
Copper carries fault current with the least resistance and lasts longest in corrosive soil. We supply standard sizes from stock and fabricate to your drawing. Our copper strip and busbar are 99% pure.
Copper strip
Width 25 to 75 mm. Thickness 2 to 6 mm.
The main conductor between equipment and the earth pit, and the conductor used to form earth grids and mats.

4, 6, 8, 10 and 16 SWG.

G.I earthing materials
Galvanised iron gives good conductivity at a lower cost than copper, and the zinc coating protects the steel underneath. We supply most standard G.I earthing items in bulk for contractors and project sites.
G.I strip
Width 25 to 75 mm. Thickness 2 to 6 mm.

Earth pit covers and chambers
The pit cover protects the joint between electrode and conductor, keeps soil and rubbish out, and lets you open the pit for inspection and resistance testing without digging.
C.I pit cover

Lightning protection
A lightning protection system gives a strike a controlled path to earth, so the current passes safely around the structure instead of through it. The air terminal, the mast, the down conductor and the earth pit all have to work together.
ESE lightning arrester

Earthing clamps and accessories
The clamp is the joint between conductor and electrode. A poor clamp undoes the work of a good electrode, so ours are made in brass and stainless steel to hold a tight, low-resistance connection for years.
